Since photovoltaic modules are bulky, it is difficult to bury under or pile on the ground for disposal. The amount of waste photovoltaic modules is increasing rapidly, and it is expected to reach 10,000 tons by 2023. Hanjung Energy Networks is developing a technology that enables recycling of waste photovoltaic modules.

What is waste photovoltaic module recycling system?

It is a technology that recycles the waste module after making it into small sized chunks through shredding and grinding processes. It can process up to 200 tons per day (approximately 8,000 sheets). Aluminum and glass from the solar waste modules are recycled for reuse. The rest of the waste is recycled to make water-permeable sidewalk blocks.
